About the Artist

A warm welcome to my profile page!

I'm Chetan C S, a passionate watercolor artist based in Bengaluru, India. I was born & brought up in Shimoga, which is well known for its greenary.  I've always found inspiration from the vibrant nature that surrounded me since my childhood.  Join me as I explore the beauty of the world through my art.

I work both in studio spaces and on location, but my true passion lies in plein-air painting. There's something magical about capturing the moment in nature, surrounded by the atmosphere and the camaraderie of fellow artists. I cherish the deep discussions and casual conversations that unfold while we create, making each session an enriching experience...

My style of work is impressionistic and I love pastle colours that represents peacefulness.  My work draws inspiration from the serene beauty of even the simplest of the subjects around us, reflections of which resonates in each of my works.  My personal favorite artist list include John Singer Sargent, Joseph Zbukvic, Claude Monet, Chien Chung Wei, S M Pandit, John Fernandes, Vasudev Kamath, BKS Varma and many more.

Looking at my works, one can easily notice that my interest mainly revolve around landscapes.  Yet, I love to often include still life, portraits, animals or any random subjects that brings not only variety to the audience, but also trick me into learn something new from fresh subjects.  Though my primary choice of medium is water colours, I do play with various other medium like oil, ink and pencil.  I love the spontenity and natural behaviour of water colour medium(and ofcourse it's easy-to-clean!).

I hereby publish the works that are solely composed by me.  I confirm that they are designed by myself, during plein-air or using photos taken by myself.  There are a few produced with photos from known contacts with prior permissions to paint(due credits has been mentioned as applicable).  In case of any objections, please contact me for clarifications, corrections or removal.

Painting for me is not just a re-creation activity, but also a reminder of my beloved mother who inculcated the passion to play with colours.  I thank my parents, family, senior artists and friends who have been supporting and encouraging me all along the journey.
